Clean Cartoonists' Dirty Drawings: Craig Yoe: Books

For people interested in comic books, smut, comics, kitsch, joe shuster

Just discovered this in the gift shop in the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco. I love this concept: a collection of risque and blue sketches, drawings, and comics from mega-famous cartoonists you know for being squeaky-clean, like Sidd "B.C." Hoff, Mort "Beetle Bailey" Walker, Chuck "Bugs Bunny" Jones, and Joe "Superman Shuster (who did the cover art).

There's something to be said for being able to slap around ol' Bucket Head. Especially when you picture Robert Downey Jr. inside the helmet, making clever little quips.

Locke and Key #1: Joe Hill

For people interested in comic books, scary, comics, stephen king

GreatWhiteSnark`s rating:
Just became interested in this series for a couple of reasons: First, the writer is Joe Hill, who happens to be the son of Stephen "He was the Man back in the 1980s" King, and apparently his first novel was reminiscent of his dad's work from the 1970s. Good stuff.

Second, the first issue just came out, and Dimension has already optioned the series to make a film franchise out of it. Wow.

**UPDATE** Finally picked up the first couple of issues and, damn, is this title good. Joe Hill is channeling his dad in all the best ways. Creepy and mysterious. Great texture to the characters, and art that's easy to look at.

Pewter Comic Belt Buckle - JON WYE

For people interested in belt buckle, comics, cursing

GreatWhiteSnark`s rating:
This great, funky 'comic book curse word' belt buckle comes in a bunch of different color combinations. For my money, though, curse words that you wear near your nether-regions should be red. All red.

The Marvel Vault: A Museum-in-a-book With Rare Collectibles from the World of Marvel

For people interested in comic books, marvel, spider-man, hulk, x-men, comics

GreatWhiteSnark`s rating:
Pretty cool gift for a comic book enthusiast. A "museum in a book." The spiral-bound, 192-page binder is filled with color illustrations and detailed history of the Marvel universe, from the beginning to present day. The best parts aren't the reproductions of Marvel classics... how about a reproduction of Howard the Duck's campaign button from 1976? Or a 1982 Marvel visitor pass? Cool, collectible stuff.

You can't go wrong with a comic book about Santa Claus saving the world from demons and zombies. Especially when it's written by actor - comedian Brian Posehn. That big, goofy-looking dude from Just Shoot Me and The Sarah Silverman Show.
