I'm that guy that people go to when they need help hooking up their new HDTV and surround-sound systems. I've been an aficionado for over ten years.

I like convincing myself that the latest shiny gizmos and gadgets are "needs" not "wants".

MadMen Zippo Lighters

For people interested in geek tv, smoking, style, 60s

Mike`s rating:

I'm ok with the shameless commercialism emblazoned all over this perfectly nice chrome Zippo, because Mad Men really is just that cool. Heaven forbid I should enjoy pretending I'm some chain-smoking, sexist Madison Ave ad man from the 1960s.

Done The Impossible: The Fans' Tale of Firefly & Serenity

For people interested in geek tv, firefly, joss whedon, the verse, serenity

Mike`s rating:

I hadn't really paid much attention to this fan-made documentary of the making of Joss Whedon's Firefly and Serenity, but then I saw a couple of pretty funny commercials featuring stars Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk. Now I actually want to check it out.

Serenity Lunch Box

For people interested in geek tv, firefly, mal reynolds, kitsch

Mike`s rating:
Mike wants one
Mark my words: Once the hipster population tires of cupcakes, it will turn its attention to kitschy lunch boxes.

Let it be known that I wanted this lunchbox way before it was ever *cool* to want it. As it stands, I think it's probably a little dorky to want a lunchbox based on an uber-geeky TV show. WORD!

ALDO shoes - Constantine

For people interested in shoes, sneakers

Mike`s rating:

I'm not the most shoe-savvy person, but I spotted these in a display the other day, and I know they're perfect to replace my other "street" (man, I'm hip) shoes, which are falling apart.

The Netflix Player by Roku

For people interested in home theater, movie downloads, itunes, movies, dvds

Mike`s rating:
Mike wants one
Sure, it has its shortcomings--relatively limited content selection, stereo sound only, and some widescreen movies become 4:3--but it's the one of the best (i.e., simplest, most inexpensive at $99 plus Netflix subscription, delivers-what-it-promises) solutions for that whole movies-on-demand-from-the-internet thing we've been hearing about for years.

Canon PowerShot SD1100IS 8MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom (Silver)

For people interested in electronic gadgets, photos, photography, digital cameras

Mike`s rating:

I think I've already upgraded through four generations of Canon subcompacts. I'm a fan. Now that I'm a couple of generations behind and Canon has released its latest iteration with Image Stabilization (the best add-on feature since the built-in flash), I'm ready to say hello to upgrade number five.
