Interesting book and a good introduction to the world of MMA. Author is a Harvard grad who had some interesting jobs (firefighter, merchant marine, writer, fighter). He gives a behind the scenes look at training muay thai, boxing, tai chi, and jiu jitsu as well as the major MMA shows.

The writer went to the WSOP to write a story about the murder of Binion. He ended up at the final table in the WSOP. Lots of interesting stories about Binion. MacManus also tells a dramatic story about his tournament run.

The granddaddy of poker theory books. It doesn't read so nicely, but the content is vewy, vewy important. If you are new to poker, get some basic poker theory (pot odds, position) down first from an easier format (e.g., Andy Nelson's Poker).
