I'll try to cut through the fear, uncertainty and doubt (a.k.a. "FUD") and give you some practical recommendations for what you really need. Oh, and my son made it successfully to toddlerhood, so don't worry: you'll survive the first year.

"Green" sex toys? Yes, there is such a thing. In doing some research for my latest book, I came across Transports of Delight, "crafters of bespoke exotic hardwood dilettos." Their products are not only beautiful, but the hardwood they use is environmentally friendly: they use suppliers who encourage replanting. So you can feel good...about feeling good. Anyway, they sent me this version--the Quiver--made out of tulipwood. It's lovely, smooth and sexy. I'll update this review after I've 'tested" it. But on aesthetics alone: high marks.

For people interested in baby gear, toddlers, preschoolers, sleep

So it's not exactly a "baby" product...but it's such a brilliant idea I had to Loot it. This clever clock changes color when it's "OK" for your preschooler to get out of bed. For parents dealing with 5am wakeup calls, this could be a godsend. (I also like that the product picture on the Web site feature the Twitter failwhale, but that's just me.) I'm happy to report, too, that this gadget WORKS. I told my son that he could come into our room when the light turns green...and sure enough, he now almost always waits until the light turns green (7am) before waking us up. The only reason I didn't give this produce 5 stars is because the setup interface is a little difficult to figure out (for parents).

It seems that sex toys aren't so tacky anymore, not when hot-shot designers are getting into the act, so to speak. The shape of Tom Dixon's "Bone" vibrator was inspired by "ancient fertility symbols." Wow, is all I can say.

So you may have heard about Ben Wa balls, but the LUNA pleasure bead system makes much more sense for gals wanting to do their Kegels and get their PC muscles in shape. (If you don't know what I'm talking about, your loss. But if you're female, Kegels are the road to nirvana.) LUNA's "medical-grade" silicone beads are attractive and well designed (a LUNA trademark), and come in two weights to offer "increased resistance over time." Oh, and don't forget the "hygienic retraction leash." Working out was never so much fun. (Note: I'm giving LUNA 4 stars instead of 5 only because I haven't tried them yet.)
